Thanks for joining Warragul Swimming Club!

The page below contains important information to help you and your swimmer settle into the world of competitive swim training and racing.

Please complete each step.

On this page:

Step one: set up accounts

Your first step is to create accounts on the apps and websites used to manage your child’s swimming. These are:

  • Swim Central (website): this website is used to manage the main swimming record for each swimmer and their parents. Warragul Swimming Club uses Swim Central as its central record of club members, and annual registration is compulsory. After initial registration, this website is used to enter all swim meets. Swimmers can also track their history of times for each of their events.

Please note: each year, Swimming Victoria (the Victorian governing body) requires every swimmer to buy compulsory insurance through Swim Central. All parents attending swim meets or training must also purchase compulsory ‘dryland’ (spectator) insurance through Swim Central. Annual swimmer insurance costs $171.81 per swimmer. Annual ‘dryland’ insurance costs $16.64 per parent / guardian.

  • Stack Team App (Apple | Android): this app is used to provide regular information on training times, plans for swimming meets, and other important club updates. Our club is listed as ‘Warragul Swimming Club’.

  • Meet Mobile (Apple | Android): this app allows you to track events and race results at a swim meet. You can get everything you need with the free version, and the paid version is a great upgrade at $20 per year.

  • Iclasspro (Apple | Android): this app is used to pay your club coaching fees. Please do not create an account yet – you will receive separate instructions via email when the club has set up this account for you.

Step two: submit Working With Children Checks (WWCC)

Warragul Swimming Club is a volunteer-run organisation, and all parents are expected to contribute volunteer time; the club has a great culture in this regard!

A Working With Children Check is required for each person who volunteers, including parents, guardians, grandparents, or any other adults who may volunteer at swimming meets, training or other club events. Volunteer roles include setting up / packing down swimming meets, catering, timekeeping, marshalling, runners, committee members, Member Protection Officer, or any other club volunteer role that takes place in proximity to children.

You can find step-by-step instructions on what to do here.

Step three: understand the annual swim meet schedule and terminology

Understanding the hierarchy and schedule of swimming meets can be confusing! There are opportunities for all levels of swimmer, and you can choose which swimming meets you would like to participate in.

This page explains the different categories of swimming meets that your child can participate in.

Step four: join us on social media!

Join the Warragul Swimming Club Members Facebook group

This is a place to ask questions, get club updates, and buy and sell swimming gear. Please note, when you apply to join our Facebook group you must answer all questions, or your request can’t be approved.

Step five: choose the right pool membership

Entry to the pool for training is a separate cost to squad fees. It’s worth having a look at the YMCA membership options, and checking that you’re on the best value plan to match the amount of training sessions your child is participating in. You can view the membership options here. If you’re not ready for a membership, ask about multi-pass options at the front desk.

Step six: understand the gear your swimmer will need

If your swimmer is just getting started, they will need the following items for their training sessions:

  • Bathers

  • Swim cap

  • Goggles

  • Kickboard

  • Pull buoy

These items are kept in a mesh drawstring gear bag.

As your swimmer advances they may also need:

  • Hand paddles

  • Race suit

There is also a wide range of Warragul Swimming Club-branded clothing and merchandise available to purchase. This is typically available for sale at swim meets hosted at Warragul Leisure Centre.

Funkita

When you sign up to Swim Central (see first step, above!) you will receive an automated email containing a discount code for Funky Trunks / Funkita swimwear. Hold onto this for future swimwear purchases.

Questions?

Warragul Swimming Club is a super-friendly community – if you have a question, just chat with anyone wearing a Warragul Swimming Club polo top. If they can’t help you, they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Otherwise, you can email the club using the form on the contact page.

Welcome again, and happy swimming!
